NT - Ngatemba Sherpa Taktok
Guide and climbing sherpa
Working with Mountain Trip (USA) and Altitude Junkies (USA), Ngatemba has crewed on Everest expeditions with dozens of climbs through the icefall and summiting ? times. He enjoys the big expeditions and so for April-May, they are his first priority.
NT had a close shave with the 2015 Gorkha earthquake where he was with Oscar Olea's team to climb the shapely Gangchenpo peak in Langtang (Jamie was a consultant for the trek). Our team was outside at Kyangjin when the long earthquake violently hit. This let loose the massive avalanche that wiped out the village of Langtang, several hours trekking below. The avalanche air blast snapped trees a kilometre away and knocked everyone off their feet in Kyangjin. Ngatemba ran however, was thrown against the ground so violently, he was knocked out. He fully recovered, thankfully.
A video of him will come.
Ngatemba was polite, considerate and hardworking and I would employ him as first choice any time we need more staff than our regular crew. I would recommend him wholeheartedly to any climber.
