Concordia

We realize the trek is worth it; the views!

28 June - to Concordia

Arriving in time for a late lunch, this was also a wonderful trekking day. And what a spectacular location! After days of driving and rather tough trekking, we had at last reached the fabled Concordia, where the glaciers from the Gasherbrums and Chogolisa meet the glaciers from K2 and Broad Peak. The ring of mountains turned on a real show for us.

Pete nonchalantly trusts that rock;
this is on the normal Concordia trail, the Baltoro is a real glacier - Jamie

29 June - Concordia

Rain. All night and all day and all night. We didn't know about the cyclone in the south of Pakistan that caused serious flooding and something like 250 deaths; perhaps we would have been more worried.

30 June - Concordia

It cleared today, but too late for the expedition team to set off, so we enjoyed the company of the trekking team for another day. And the views, oh!

This brings to mind a quote of Tilman's something like: 'Surrounded by mountains but not a single one designed for climbers.' - Jamie
