2005 Shishapangma expedition dispatchesThe "solidity factor" expedition and "Where is Bob"? Hello! We now back from Shishapangma, 14th highest mountain on the planet. Success: Mike Teger, Warwick Barnes, Greg Long, Ed Kowalski, Chris Klinke, Scott Streett summitted the central summit, Jamie summitted twice in two days. Andrew Lock and Inigo de Pineda also summitted the central summit. Jamie wanted to try for the main summit but got a bad sinus infection and so didn't try. Chris Klinke also headed to Cho Oyu for the double but was almost blown off the mountain; the winter winds had set in. They made it to Camp 3 before returning. No injuries. We were the only commercial guide-assisted team on the mountain but we had plenty of friends in the other teams, including Silvio Mondinelli, Mario Merelli, Fred and Benjamin.
The team on their summit push at Camp 1 - Jamie L-R: Jamie McG, Mike Teger, Greg Long, Ed Kowalski,
Chris Klinke, Simona Pogac, Scott Streett, Warwick Barnes Most of our expedition team traveled via Lhasa, and with us for the beginning was a group of eight 'trekkers' including three of Warwick's friends. We also had a Cho Oyu expedition lead by Andrew Lock. Thanks for all your support. |
