Xixa Base Camp

We are at base camp, 5040m

10 Sept: Xixa BC

Jamie stayed behind at Tingri to meet Simone and Ed Kowalski, who were coming up from Kathmandu via Zhangmu. Simone was horribly sick but some expert attention and drugs helped her onto the path of recovery.

The rest of the team headed to BC, arriving at lunchtime. There was a few nervous hours as the truck and the sherpas showed up only as the shadows lengthened, but all was OK and camp sprang up quickly.

The sherpas empty the truck. We have approx 2.5 tonnes of gear.

Base camp - only male yaks are used for load-carrying, bigger horns mean they are older

Our base camp; moonlight is lighting up the clouds, and that is Shishapangma just left of the dining tent
