North Col

We spent three nights at North Col to acclimatize.

3 May - up to North Col

Hot in the sun. Then it snowed on the people behind. Not a day everyone wishes to remember.

4 May - North Col relaxing

And that is what we did!

Kirsti styling - Jamie

5 May - Taking a look higher

Feeling good, we tested ourselves heading a little higher, the views were superb. Everyone performed well with Kirsti breaking her altitude record, higher than Pumori, which we could see in the middle distance.

Gavin crosses the only ladder to North Col; our camp is just behind and to the right, out of sight - Jamie

Climbing above the ladder, old ropes dangling down - Jamie

The second set of tents at North Col and Philippe, Changtse at ~7500m behind;
it had snowed a little the afternoon before - Jamie

Gavin and Kevin setting personal altitude records with every step.
The route goes up along the trail and then in the rock-snow area above is Camp 2, around 7600-7900m - Jamie

6 May - back to ABC

What a beautiful morning. We headed down before it got too hot. We are at ABC now.

Our plans

We are heading down to base camp to recover from our high altitude sojourn and plan our summit bid. We will be down there at least 4 days. At the moment the weather is looking very good. Lets see if it will hold.
