Puja and North Col

I have been busy...

29 April Everest Peace Project Puja

Da'Yula presided over our Puja, or showing of respect for the mountain. He is a trained lama (Mysore, India) but is now married with children. He and Dawa are asked to preside over many pujas.

Da'Yula holds prayer beads and chants from a Tibetan book.
Tonya beside him, Nima Tenzi then Micha looking at you.

Our chorten with offerings to the side and the mountain in the background

After the puja myself (Jamie), Micha, Dudu and Sele climbed up to sleep at North Col.
Here is a telephoto shot of ABC, our camps are the farthest left, partially hidden.

Dudu climbing up to the North Col on fixed ropes, well loaded with his personal gear

We stayed 3-4 nights at North Col before heading down. Here Ali negotiates several ladders tied together leaving North Col.

Ali descends with Da'Yula watching over him, the last pitch down.

5 May EPP to BC

With the team back to ABC everyone except Jamie headed back to BC to recover fully after our North Col excursion. The big debate was whether to stay at ABC - you don't recover, so a quick summit required - or to take the long hike to BC for much better recovery. Everybody made it down in one day, well done!

Jamie gave an oxygen lecture to the Project Himalaya team and has has too much practice putting on regulators in the last week, none with Project Himalaya though.

6 May

The Everest Peace Project team are at BC, all OK. Jamie is at ABC managing logistics for the EPP and Project Himalaya. In total 15 sherpas carried loads to North Col, most staying there to carry loads higher tomorrow. There is also an ABC and North Col trekking group here at ABC.
