Base Camp sortingWe have been acclimatizing and sorting gear for ABC Project HimalayaKathmandu! Yes, they arrived in Kathmandu and just as the political situation momentarily improved. Hopefully they will get out before the situation deteriorates again, as it surely will. Dawa Gelje is now at Zhangmu, the border, waiting for them. 22 April Everest Peace ProjectToday Sele, Gautam and Tonya took a quick trip down to Rongbuk Monastery for some exercise while Dudu, Ali and Micha climbed near camp for a photo shoot. In the afternoon we sorted Alpine Aire dehydrated food (the dried strawberries suffered the uncontrollable loss of several packs), mountain tents, Clif bars, Luna bars and Clif Shots - yum! Tonya started charging all the radios. So some progress and lots of team work. Ali, the Palestinian climber, is the feature of the Gulf News Friday Magazine.

Sitting around the dining tableAli says he has never been so bored in his life and has started reading books. Dudu is on the phone with Zadok, a hardball journalist. Tonya said she got lonely today and had some altitude paranoia. Gautam is wondering why the finger oxygen saturation meter won't read properly for him. Brad is just mellow. Gautam metioned that we are now approximately one third of the way thru the expedition and have not even set foot on the mountain!
