Markha - Mani Chen exploring

After the trekkers left the mountain explorers headed to check out Kang Yatze, unfortunately the weather was horrendous, some of the heaviest rain in the region for a long time.

We explored over the Konka Nongpo (pass) to look at the back of the peak, but retreated back to Nimaling
once we realized how dangerous conditions were everywhere. Hillsides were ready to slip and the streams were raging.

We were safe at Mani Chen, the base camp region but had no opportunity to explore any of the mountains nearby,
the weather was still so bad.

This is part of our Markha Valley series.

We run great treks - see Our treks.

The weather didn't improve back on the Kang Yatze side. Martin and myself climbed along this snow ridge, hoping to be able to see a route on Kang Yatze but a storm moved in. I stayed up there a little longer than prudent, the top of my head started buzzing with electrical charge; it was time to hunker down near rocks while lightening sparked around me - Jamie

And Rahul, looking to the other side, just as bad - Jamie
