Base Camp exploring

Camping out

Some of us take a hike and sleep out just below some spectacular lakes.

Apologies for some unknown satellite issue I was not able to upload this before our hike to ABC.

11 Sept Lake camp 5222m

Shishapangma BC has some fantastic exploring but in the past our climbers rather stayed less nights at BC and moved to ABC quickly. This time however, we made the time.

First though we had to cross a stream. Walter: yep, that water was cold!

After we arrived at our camp I (Jamie) took a hike up to this huge lake. It was a cold, windy and misty evening.

The next morning Clive and myself explored to the second large lake; they are only an hour's walk apart.

Back in base camp the mountains cleared. It is still windy up there though.

There are many small plants that are adapted to the harsh conditions.
This red flower has pulpy leaves to protect it; the flowers above is very dry so that it cannot freeze.
