Shegar

We hike up the ruins of Shegar Fort

We took four days from Lhasa to Base Camp, including one rest day for a good acclimatization plan.

Tomorrow Shishapangma Base Camp pictures!

7 Sept - Day hike to Shegar Fort

What a rewarding day trip, both last year and this year. We stayed at the Everest View Hotel, that doesn't have an Everest view, as far as we could tell.

Spinning prayer wheels, hand-held and around stupas (ie pseudo-memorials) increases merit for the next life.

Corinne and the skyline of ruins.

A panorama of the fort up on the hill, ruins of the old gompa in red, and the cluster of the new gompa-monastery lower.

The glorious, captivating panorama from the top of the fort.

Our guides to the fort; and there is a trick to getting to the top so they were useful.

Chickens feet, collagen sausages and veins - we returned this dish and the cook brought out another that we liked.
As a team we finished virtually all the food put in front of us unlike all other climbing teams and tour groups we met.
